International Projects

Our Volunteers Without Borders (VWB) chapter offers diverse international volunteer travel programs and internships to create more environmentally and culturally sensitive travel opportunities that will hold long-term sustainability for the indigenous communities. Also, we want to educate travelers with guidelines and methods for making responsible travel choices. Whether it’s providing medical care for young children in a remote Himalayan school or hiking in the mountains with our visually handicapped students, planting trees with children, or preparing meals at homeless shelters, our projects provide insight and connection with the local community that lasts within you forever.

EARTHQUAKE DISASTER RELIEF WORK

Amrita-Seattle’s volunteers went to Nepal a week after the 2015 earthquakes to do relief work.  We reached  some of the remote villages near Sindhupalchowk and Bhaktapur and  stayed throughout the aftershocks period and distributed blankets and  other relief material, and helped cook hot meals in the camps for two weeks. Our volunteers also worked in Katmandu’s earthquake shelter areas to cook meals for several thousands victims at a time.
