Welcome to the PRIVACY POLICY for the website, www.amrita-kumbha.org (the “Website”) operated on behalf of Amrita-Seattle (“Amrita,” “we” or “us“) (“Privacy Policy”).

This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use and disclose personally identifiable information that you provide to us through the Website (“Personal Information”), as well as information related to your use of and access to the Website, together with any content, tools, features and functionality offered on or through our Website (the “Services”). Please read this Privacy Policy carefully.

For purposes of this Privacy Policy, “you” and “your” means you as the user of the Services.

 

1. INFORMATION WE COLLECT

Information we may collect about you includes:

  • Information you provide when you contact us through our Website, such as your name, phone number and e-mail address.

  • Usage, viewing and technical information, including your IP address or device identifier when you use the Services. If you access your account from a mobile device, that mobile device may also provide us with details of your location. Most mobile devices allow you to disable this functionality.

  • Information you provide when you make a donation through our Website, our Donation Form, or through PayPal, including, but not limited to: your name, e-mail address, phone number and address.

  • Information you provide when you subscribe for our mailing list, such as your name, e-mail address, and phone number.

  • Information we receive about you from third parties (e.g., if you access the Services through a third party platform, we may also collect your e-mail address and other information associated with that third party, and any information you have made public in connection with that service or which the third party shares with partner services).   • Information you provide in order to sign up for one of our events either directly or indirectly through our relationships with third party platforms such as AUCTRIA, GoFundMe, Facebook, Evite or Eventbrite. These third parties will only share information with us with your consent. Please check their respective privacy policies to understand how they will process your data.

 

2. HOW WE COLLECT YOUR INFORMATION

  • We collect information you provide to us when you: input information into the Services; create user generated content; request services or information from us; or otherwise interact with us or the Services.

  • We collect information through unique identifiers (such as IP address or your mobile device advertising identifier).

  • We may automatically collect certain information that does not directly or indirectly identify, and cannot reasonably be used to identify, you (“Non-Personal Information”) through the use of cookies. Online Tracking

  • Do Not Track (DNT) is a privacy preference that users can set in some web browsers, allowing users to opt out of tracking by websites and online services. Amrita and the Services do not recognize DNT.

 

3. USE OF YOUR INFORMATION BY AMRITA-SEATTLE

The ways in which we may use the information that we collect from you include the following:

  • To respond to your message.

  • To acknowledge and process your donation through the Services and ensure you receive the appropriate tax receipt.

  • To send you information about our events and fundraisers.

  • To create anonymized and aggregated data sets that may be used for a variety of functions, including research, internal analysis, analytics, and other functions.

  • To build target groups of supporters to ensure our communications are relevant. When building a donor profile, we may analyze geographic, demographic, and other information to better understand your interests and preferences to deliver relevant content.

  • To personalize content and experiences.

  • To ensure we know your preferred method of communication.

  • To detect, investigate and prevent activities that may violate our policies or be illegal.

  • To optimize or improve the content, products, services, and features of the Services.

  • To personalize and improve the Services and user experiences, to increase the functionality and user friendliness of the Services, to deliver content or features that match user profiles or interests.

  • To keep a record of your relationship with us.

  • To monitor and analyze the Services’ usage and trends and otherwise measure the effectiveness of the Services.

4. SHARING YOUR INFORMATION WITH OTHER COMPANIES

We will not share Personal Information outside Amrita except in the following limited circumstances, which you consent to:

  • When we run an event in partnership with a third-party organization, Personal Information may be shared for the purposes of running such event (e.g., creating a user guest list). How your Personal Information will be used will be made clear during the registration process.

  • When you attend our events, we may post photos and videos taken at the events on our social media and website, unless you specifically request otherwise.

  • When you choose to share your story through testimonials, participating in events, or through campaigns, this information may be made public through events, promotional materials, our website, and our annual report.

  • When you allow to us share Personal Information with another company, such as directing us to share Personal Information with third-party sites or platforms, such as Auctria, Eventbrite or Evite. Please consult Section 6 below and the third party’s privacy policy for additional information.

  • When we contract or partner with a third party to provide services on our behalf (e.g., for Services development and maintenance or to help administer our newsletter). We require all third parties to process your data in accordance with this Privacy Policy and as permitted by applicable data protection laws.

  • In connection with the sale of a business (including merger, acquisition, or sale of all or a material portion of its assets, change in corporate control, or insolvency or bankruptcy proceedings).

  • To enforce our Terms of Service or rules, to ensure the safety and security of our users and third parties, to protect our rights and property and the rights and property of our users and third parties, to comply with legal process, including judicial warrant, rule, order or subpoena or in other cases if we believe in good faith that disclosure is required by law or regulation.

6. THIRD PARTY WEBSITES AND LINKS

Our Services may contain links to other online platforms operated by third parties. We note that our online donation function and other payment processing functions are operated by PayPal. In order to make an online donation or payment through the Services, you must agree to PayPal’s Privacy Policy, located at https://paypal.com/us/webapps/mpp/ua/privacy-full.

We also note that our subscription function is operated by Constant Contact. In order to subscribe to our emails or newsletters, you must agree to Constant Contact’s Privacy Policy located at https://www.endurance.com/privacy/privacy. We note that our event registration is operated by Evite and Auctria. In order to register for events, you must agree to Evite’s Privacy Policy located at https://evite.com/content/privacy_policy and Auctria’s Privacy Policy located at https://www.iubenda.com/privacy-policy/7817344. We do not control such other online platforms and are not responsible for their content, their privacy policies, or their use of your information. Our inclusion of such links does not, by itself, imply any endorsement of the content on such platforms or of their owners or operators except as disclosed on the Services. Please keep in mind that information you post on public or semi-public venues, including
information you share on third party social networking platforms (such as Facebook or Twitter) may also be viewable by other users of the Services and/or users of those third-party online platforms without limitation as to its use by us or by a third party. When you provide information to a third-party online platform, the information you provide may be separately collected by that third-party. The information the third-party online platform collects is subject to the third-party online platform’s privacy practices.

Privacy choices you make on the third-party online platform will not apply to our use of the information we collect directly through our Services. We expressly disclaim any and all liability for the actions of third parties, including but without limitation to actions relating to the use and/or disclosure of Personal Information by third parties.
